Types of Gala
Bridgefield is a club focused on competitive swimming and has swimmers targeted at achieving county, regional and national qualifying times.
Swimmers represent to club in two types of competition.
Firstly the club enters teams in inter-club competitions. In these galas the club has a nominated lane and enters a swimmer or relay team in each event on the programme. Points are awarded to each club in the competition based on finishing places.
The club enters a team of swimmers from 9 years old through to open age in the Merseyside & District Swimming League as well as a 9 to 12 year old junior team in the Micro League of the North West. In addition the club also competes in several invitation galas throughout the course of the year.
The club also enters swimmers in open competitions. In these galas swimmers represent the club, or on some occasions the City of Liverpool Swimming Club but compete on an individual basis. Medals are awarded based on the finishing place of a swimmer in an event. Swimmers must be at least nine years old to compete in open galas and choose which events they would like to compete in from those on the programme.
To compete in an open gala an entry form must be completed and submitted to the Competition Secretary. An entry fee is applicable per event entered in an open competition.
A number of the clubs competitive squad have achieved qualifying times for county, regional and national events.
